Nippon Life Global Investors Europe Limited (“NLGIE”) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Japanese firm Nippon Life Insurance Company (Nippon Life), the world’s 7th largest life insurer by revenue. The organisation’s representative office in London were looking to move to a new office location that would offer a brighter, inspiring and more modern workplace that could flexibly accommodate their business needs over the next ten years.
The new location at the recently refurbished Shelley House, London, offered and L shaped floorplan with floor to ceiling glass on both side, giving incredible views of the London skyline that work.place.create. looked to maximise with their design of a mostly open plan office layout. This reflects the nature and work style of NLGIE business model, with just two cellular offices set aside for general managers. All staff are supported by a central lunch room, print/copy areas and storage provisions.
A small reception space has also been provided for guests and visitors as they arrive at the eleventh floor, outside of a large, dedicated board room for ten persons and two other formal meeting rooms that are supported by a folding wall structure. Five smaller, internal meeting rooms have also been provided to support the needs of the organisation. The sleek and simple design used materials and colours befitting of the company’s Japanese heritage and followed their philosophy that the workplace should be welcoming and functional but not ostentatious.
